TAB-Austria and The Official UK Charts sign contract

The Official UK Charts is responsible for the official music and video charts in England. The charts are based on information from more than 6,200 retailers and are thus representative country-wide for the single track and album market in England.

“TAB-Austria is the first foreign company we have ever signed such a contract with, and they have from here access to our official chart lists”, explains Phil Matcham, Senior Licensing Manager for The Official UK Charts. 

After the successful trial period for Max Fire Jukeboxes, TAB-Austria and The Official UK Charts have decided to enter into close collaboration. And which event could provide a better venue for the signing than the ATEI in London?

“The laws and regulations of a country are enormously important to us. This is why, some time ago, we acquired music rights with countries such as England, Ireland, Belgium and Germany, to name but a few”, declared Karin Scheidl, Marketing Manager for TAB-Austria. 

The conclusion of this contract with The Official UK Charts is another milestone for TAB-Austria: “The English music market is eager for up-to-date charts. Being able to access the official UK charts, gives us quite a competitive edge”, added Karin Scheidl. The music rights for England with the industry organisations PPL and VPL had already been acquired in autumn 2006.

“Updates take place completely automatically over the online connection of every jukebox to our server. With an integrated UMTS modem there’s connection within a few seconds, as installation and activation of the modem are at the front end of our operation”, added Ms Scheidl.

It is not just the English market, though, that will enjoy these chart lists. By signing this contract, TAB-Austria has got the worldwide marketing of the official UK charts in the bag!
